Advanced, highly skilled care for the unique needs of women Dr. Pizarro was the first surgeon in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma (and is still one of the few across the country) to offer minimally invasive hysterectomy using advanced computerized laparoscopy (robotics). This technique allows the surgeon to perform surgeries through small incisions that in the past would have required a very large incision. A Board-Certified Gynecologist Dr. Pizarro has called Shreveport his home since 1983. He studied for eight years at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport to complete medical school and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. For the following three years Dr. Pizarro received Fellowship training in Pelvic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, Arizona. There he gained experience in advanced gynecologic laparoscopy, management of complex gynecologic conditions, and female pelvic reconstruction.
At the Mayo Clinic Dr. Pizarro presented lectures to gynecologic specialists, allied health and nursing professionals on topics ranging from surgical anatomy to wound healing to the care of postoperative gynecologic patients. His training has included instruction from specialists in colorectal surgery, urology, and pelvic physical therapy. Dr. Pizarro has specialized training in minimally invasive robotic hysterectomy, removal of ovarian cysts, repair of pelvic relaxation, pelvic pain management, and other complex surgical conditions. A woman's best health depends on highly trained & truly focused medical care. Today, Dr. Pizarro is known for his narrow focus as a "surgical gynecologist," for performing Louisiana's 1st robotics-assisted gynecologic surgery and for achieving excellent outcomes for even highly complex or demanding problems.
