How do I get an appointment?
The best way to get an appointment is to be referred by a physician. You can call the office to schedule your own appointment, however, this may cause a delay due to obtaining records. Appointments can also be scheduled via the internet.
How long does it take to get an appointment?
Appointments are scheduled based on individual needs, but usually within one week.
Does Dr. Pizarro perform regular gynecological exams and pap smears?
Yes.
Why is laparoscopic (robotic) surgery better for me?
There are many benefits to having laparoscopic (robotic) surgery because the physician is able to operate through very small incisions using a special camera. These benefits include: less pain, quicker recovery, less scarring, & shorter hospital stay.
How long will I have to stay in the hospital?
Your length of stay varies depending on the procedure. Many procedures can be done as an outpatient for which patients go home the next day.
How long will I have to be off work?
Most procedures require a 6 week recovery time. However, many patients report that they are able to go back sooner. The recovery time will vary depending on the individual.
What restrictions will I have after surgery?
Dr. Pizarro recommends you avoid straining and lifting for 6 weeks, otherwise patients may do whatever they feel up to. Patients should avoid anything that would put strain on the surgery site.
Is surgery my only option?
For many of the conditions that Dr. Pizarro treats conservative treatment such as physical therapy are often an option. He offers surgery only when he feels it is your best option. For certain conditions there are other non surgical devices or therapies that might be helpful.
What tests are needed prior to having surgery?
In most cases blood tests and a chest x-ray are required. For surgery related to disorders of pelvic support other pre-operative testing may be needed.
