Surgeries Uterosacral Repair
Uterosacral Ligament Vaginal Repair This is another surgery to repair weaknesses in the pelvic floor in properly selected patients. Dr. Pizarro uses a technique based on the one developed by the gynecologic surgery pioneers at the Mayo Clinic. Uterosacral ligament repairs are generally done entirely through the vagina, without the need for abdominal incisions. The weakened area is explored to see what tissues are involved. The tough tissues at the top of and beside the vagina are found and are attached to the fallen tissues. Dr. Pizarro uses non-absorbable stitches to help create a very secure repair. In this way, the defects are repaired and the fallen tissues are put back into place. In most patients, this surgery may be very capably done with the aid of a laparoscope. |
